Applications Open for New Plumbing Program at Kiamichi Tech - Stigler

STIGLER, Okla. – Beginning Fall 2023, Kiamichi Tech – Stigler will offer a new career training opportunity. The application period is now open for adult and high school students to apply for the Plumbing and Pipefitter Technology program.

The new program will provide students with hands-on experience in residential and commercial applications, such as pipefitting, sizing of vent and drains, residential and commercial drawings and structural penetrations, installation of fixtures, and diagnostic procedures.

“It is crucial that we offer programs needed for job employment and economic development in our area,” said April Williams, Campus Director at Kiamichi Tech – Stigler. “There was a lot of consideration, research and planning that went into the decision to add Plumbing at our campus and we look forward to offering this program to our community.”

In order to offer a program that reflects local needs and interests, Kiamichi Tech surveyed partner school officials, high school students, parents, business leaders and community members. Other factors that were considered were employment potential and trends, average wages, career progression, program budget and potential support from local business and industry.

Upon successful completion of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Technology program, students may seek employment as a field maintenance technician or plumbing apprentice working toward journeyman licensure.
