KTC appoints new board member

The Kiamichi Technology Centers’ Board of Education has selected Joy Culbreath to fill the unexpired term of Zone 5.

Mrs. Culbreath has dedicated her entire career to education.  She spent twenty-seven years at Southeastern Oklahoma State University working in TRIO programs and teaching in the Business Department.  After retiring from Southeastern in 1993, she began working for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma where she has spent the last twenty-two years.  She recently retired from her position as Executive Director of Education for the Choctaw Nation.

KTC students tackle community projects with technology
The Talihina Kiamichi Technology Center auditorium filled with friends and family of students who took part in the Beyond the Bell: Totally Teched Out Camp on the evening of Jan. 21, for the showcase and celebration of the work completed during the camp.  “We did a lot in four days,” stated Carrie Kirkes, a facilitator for the program, which experienced its inaugural run with considerable success and positive reception.  learn more

Adults may apply for many of Kiamichi Technology Center's daytime classes at different times throughout the year. These classes are usually one full school year or more in length. learn more


get business training

These inexpensive courses feature flexible schedules at convenient sites throughout Southeast Oklahoma. Instructors are knowledgeable, and most actually work in the business and industry areas they teach. Most classes are five or 10 weeks in length, but others run from a half-day to one or two weeks. Course work is hands on, with most taught in a shop or lab, using equipment currently used in the work place. learn more

 The U.S. Department of Commerce estimates that jobs in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) will grow 17 percent by 2018—nearly double the growth for non-STEM fields. By 2018, the U.S. will have more than 1.2 million unfilled STEM jobs because there will not be enough qualified workers to fill them. STEM is where jobs are today and where the job growth will be in the future.
