Kiamichi Tech Secures Site for Coal County Presence

COALGATE, Okla. – Kiamichi Tech has officially purchased a 12-acre property on Fair Barn Road in Coalgate, expanding the district’s footprint and strengthening workforce training opportunities in the region.

“This expansion into Coalgate reflects our commitment to opportunity and workforce growth in Coal County,” said Colette Harper, Kiamichi Tech Board of Education member. “I am proud to support initiatives that create strong pathways to success for our communities.”

The site will operate as an extension of the Kiamichi Tech - Atoka campus, with shared administration and staffing support. The project is expected to take approximately 24 to 36 months before becoming fully operational.

“This is an exciting step forward for the Coalgate community and for Kiamichi Tech,” said Superintendent Shelley Free. “Securing this property allows us to thoughtfully plan for expanded workforce training opportunities that directly support local employers and adult learners.”

The 12-acre property offers significant potential for future development, allowing the district to design programs and facilities that adapt to evolving industry demands. The site will prioritize short-term credentialing, workforce certifications and customized training opportunities aimed at helping individuals quickly gain skills that lead to employment and career advancement.

“Kiamichi Tech’s investment in our community strengthens our workforce pipeline and opens the door to new opportunities for residents and local employers alike,” said Jackie Holt, City Manager for the City of Coalgate. “We look forward to supporting this project as it develops and to the long-term impact it will have on economic growth in our region.”

Kiamichi Tech is committed to engaging the community throughout the planning process. A community feedback survey has been launched to gather initial input and ideas for the site. All community members are encouraged to participate in the survey.
