5.8 Alcohol and Drugs

ALCOHOL/ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND/OR DRUGS/ILLEGAL CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES

Drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, is not allowed on Kiamichi Technology Centers (“KTC”) property, in KTC vehicles, or at any KTC sponsored activity, except as provided by this policy. Nothing in this policy shall be interpreted as approval to consume drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, on school property.

The purpose of this policy is to address the following:

  1. When, and under what circumstances the presence of drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, is allowed on KTC property, in KTC vehicles, or at any KTC sponsored activity.
  2. Procedures to request approval to bring drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, on KTC property.

Drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, may only be present on KTC property, as provided in this policy, for the purpose of facilitating and advancing a KTC educational program activity approved by the KTC Superintendent.

The procedure to request approval to bring drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, on KTC property is listed below:

  1. A written request (Alcohol/Alcoholic Beverages Request Form and/or Drugs/Illegal Chemical Substances Request Form) must be approved by the Campus Director at the campus where drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, will be present on KTC property and utilized in any educational program activity. The request must fully describe the following:
    • The proposed purpose for the presence of drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol,
    • The security for drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, on KTC property,
    • The amount/name/type of drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol,
    • The length of time of the program or activity for which the drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, is present on KTC property; and,
    • Any other relevant information such as the number of students, age requirements (minimum age of 21), etc.
  2. The request shall be forwarded by the Campus Director, with his/her recommendation, to the Superintendent.
  3. The Superintendent shall review and approve or deny ALL requests. The decision of the Superintendent is final and non-appealable.
  4. No drugs, illegal chemical substances, alcohol, and/or any beverage containing alcohol, may be present on KTC property without written approval from the Superintendent.
