Policy 5.6

The board of education recognizes that transportation is a necessary element of educational opportunity and, therefore, the board shall provide opportunities for transportation. Transportation for technology center students will be provided only when necessary for the accomplishment of one of the following purposes:

  1. To provide transportation for any student who is participating in a program of the technology center.
  2. To allow, when practicable, the use of school buses for the transportation of students to activities and on field trips that have been approved by the superintendent.
  3. To provide adequate education facilities and opportunities which otherwise would not be available.
  4. To contract for the use of school buses.

When it is deemed advisable and in the best interest of the District, a school vehicle may be permanently assigned to a given individual for his/her exclusive use.
