2.2 Election of Board Members
In conformity with the laws of the State of Oklahoma, the Board of Education shall consist of seven members each serving a seven‐year term, with one member’s term expiring each year. Members shall be elected from each of seven zones within the geographical boundaries of the Kiamichi Technology Centers District. New members that have been certified as elected to the board, or incumbents re‐elected, shall take office the first meeting after the annual school election, on which date the board shall be reorganized and officers elected for the ensuing year.
Any legally qualified voter of the school district may become a candidate from their respective zone, provided the person has been a registered voter with the County Election Board at an address located within the geographic boundaries of the election zone for six (6) months preceding the first day of the filing period, by filing a prescribed form in writing with the secretary of the County Election Board of either the county wherein supervision of the school district is located or the county wherein the candidate resides by the deadline.
Kiamichi Technology Center Board of Education Zones are as follows:
Zone 1
Includes the complete school districts of Canadian, Crowder, Eufaula, Krebs, McAlester, and Stidham in Oklahoma.
Zone 2
Includes the complete school districts of Bokoshe, Buffalo Valley, Haileyville, Hartshorne, Keota, Kinta, McCurtain, Panama, Panola, Quinton, Red Oak, Stigler, Talihina, Whitefield, and Wilburton in Oklahoma.
Zone 3
Includes the complete school districts of Arkoma, Cameron, Fanshawe, Howe, LeFlore, Monroe, Pocola, Poteau, Shady Point, Spiro, and Wister in Oklahoma.
Zone 4
Includes the complete school districts of Albion, Antlers, Bennington, Boswell, Ft. Towson, Hugo, Nashoba, Rock Creek, Soper, Tuskahoma, and Valliant. It also includes all of Achille School District except that part lying west of Treaty Road and north of State Highway 91; only that part of Calera School District lying east of State Highway 78; that part of Durant lying east of State Highway 78 and north of Old Highway 70; and, that part of Rattan in Choctaw County in Oklahoma.
Zone 5
Includes the complete school districts of Colbert and Silo. It also includes that part of Achille School District lying west of Treaty Road and north of State Highway 91; all of Calera School District except that part lying east of State Highway 78, and all of Durant School District except that part lying east of State Highway 78; and, north of Old Highway 70 in Oklahoma.
Zone 6
Includes the complete school districts of Atoka, Caddo, Calvin, Caney, Clayton, Coalgate, Cottonwood, Frink Chambers, Harmony, Haywood, Indianola, Kiowa, Lane, Moyers, Pittsburg, Savanna, Stringtown, Stuart, Tannehill, Tushka, Wapanucka, and that part of Allen which lies in Coal County; that part of Coleman which lies in Atoka County; and, that part of Stonewall which lies in Coal County in Oklahoma.
Zone 7
Includes the complete school districts of Battiest, Broken Bow, Denison, Eagletown, Forest Grove, Glover, Haworth, Heavener, Hodgen, Holly Creek, Idabel, Lukfata, Smithville, Whitesboro, and Wright City in Oklahoma.
