McALESTER, Okla. – Lauren Denny, Interactive Media instructor at Kiamichi Tech – McAlester, was recently named Business Partner of the Year at the Dream BIG Oklahoma Awards, hosted by REI Oklahoma on October 7 at the Grand Casino Hotel & Resort in Shawnee.
Since 2019, the Dream BIG Oklahoma Awards have recognized some of the state’s most inspiring individuals, businesses, and organizations—visionaries, builders, and innovators who make a lasting impact across Oklahoma.
Denny was honored for her continued collaboration with REI Oklahoma, where she shares her passion for media and small business through online trainings and entrepreneurship workshops. “This partnership with REI Oklahoma allows me to do what I love most—help people tell their stories,” said Denny. “Technology can feel intimidating, but my goal is to make it approachable and fun. Seeing small business owners gain confidence and clarity in how to share what they do is incredibly rewarding.”
In her nomination, REI Oklahoma described Denny as “a trusted collaborator for many years” and “a leading provider of resources for business owners, entrepreneurs, and workforces across Southeast Oklahoma.”
Kiamichi Tech Superintendent Shelley Free said Denny’s recognition reflects the school’s broader mission to serve communities and strengthen Oklahoma’s workforce.
“Lauren’s work with REI Oklahoma demonstrates the impact that happens when education and community partnerships come together,” said Free. “She represents the spirit of Kiamichi Tech by meeting people where they are, equipping them with practical skills, and helping them move forward with confidence.”
Through her role at Kiamichi Tech, Denny continues to champion the use of technology, storytelling, and digital media as tools for both career development and small business growth that empowers students, businesses and communities across Southeast Oklahoma.
