Emergency Medical Services

Experience the adrenaline rush of emergency medicine while learning lifesaving skills in high-pressure situations. This program prepares students for careers in emergency medical services by providing hands-on training in trauma assessment, patient care and critical decision-making. Students will work with advanced diagnostic equipment and collaborate with medical professionals, firefighters and law enforcement personnel to gain real-world experience.

This is a post-secondary program for Adult Learners Only. The EMT program is completed in five months, while the Paramedic program (which includes Anatomy & Physiology) takes 16 months.

Program Information

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an introductory survey of emergency medical services including medical legal/ethical aspects, patient assessment, care of wounds and fractures, airway maintenance, patient transportation, medical and environmental emergency, child birth and extrication. This short-term program is 256 hours. Financial aid is not avaialble.

Program Information

Successful completion of the EMT is required before beginning the Paramedic portion of the program. The Paramedic Program prepares students to perform a comprehensive patient assessment and advanced emergency procedures in the pre-hospital setting. Students are trained in academic theory and a variety of technical skills, to aid in the process of autonomous decision making. 

  • Paramedic (1,240) – Adult Learners Only

  • National Registry EMT Paramedic Level
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Oklahoma State Paramedic License

Program Accreditation

The Kiamichi Tech EMS Program is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Upon recommendation of the Committee of Accreditation of Education Programs for Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). Graduates of this state-approved program are eligible to apply and test the National Registry of EMT's (NREMT).
