health career students compete at national event

Kiamichi Technology Center Health Career students at the McAlester campus will compete at the 37th annual National Leadership Conference June 25-28, 2014. The KTC students won at the state level and will now compete at the national event held at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  The advisors attending will be Carol Maxwell and Paige Shoup. KTC Hosts STEM Camps

The U.S. Department of Commerce estimates that jobs in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) will grow 17 percent by 2018—nearly double the growth for non-STEM fields. By 2018, the U.S. will have more than 1.2 million unfilled STEM jobs because there will not be enough qualified workers to fill them. KTC students tackle community projects with technology
The Talihina Kiamichi Technology Center auditorium filled with friends and family of students who took part in the Beyond the Bell: Totally Teched Out Camp on the evening of Jan. 21, for the showcase and celebration of the work completed during the camp.  “We did a lot in four days,” stated Carrie Kirkes, a facilitator for the program, which experienced its inaugural run with considerable success and positive reception.  learn more

earn college credits

Kiamichi Technology Center provides an extended curriculum for participating high schools. Three units of credit may be earned by a student attending Kiamichi Technology Center each year. Following successful completion, these units are certified by Kiamichi Technology Center and transferred to the high school in which the student is enrolled. learn more

Adults may apply for many of Kiamichi Technology Center's daytime classes at different times throughout the year. These classes are usually one full school year or more in length. learn more

get business training

These inexpensive courses feature flexible schedules at convenient sites throughout Southeast Oklahoma. Instructors are knowledgeable, and most actually work in the business and industry areas they teach. Most classes are five or 10 weeks in length, but others run from a half-day to one or two weeks. Course work is hands on, with most taught in a shop or lab, using equipment currently used in the work place. learn more
