Williams Joins KTC Poteau Team

Kris Reece Williams joins the Kiamichi Technology Center –Poteau Campus as a Career Specialist.  Her responsibilities include offering career awareness opportunities to local elementary schools, serving as an internship coordinator for partnering high schools and collaborating with partner schools in implementing Individual Career Academic Plans (ICAP).

Williams is a 1992 graduate of Bokoshe Public Schools.   She completed her Associates Degree at Carl Albert State College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from Oklahoma State University.   Williams earned her Master’s in School Administration from Northeastern State University.   She started her career in marketing at the United Way by planning events before teaching for 14 years at Bokoshe Public Schools in elementary through high school.   While at Bokoshe Public Schools, Williams was the Co-Director of the 20 th Century After School Grant Program.  She has taught fifth grade the last three years at Poteau Public Schools.   Williams is a National Board Certified teacher.

She and her husband, Mark, have four children: Kaden – 13, Kenzi – 10, Kennedi – 10, and Kamrin – 8.   They attend Poteau Public Schools.  In her spare time, Williams likes to read, cook, watch sports, listen to music, camp with family, and learn new skills and talents.   She is a member of Cross Community Church in Poteau and volunteers in the nursery and children’s department.   Williams stated, “Joining the KTC family and educating students about career opportunities was a natural transition for me since I’ve been promoting careers in my classrooms for years. Talking to students about their future and their true potential in life has always been a passion; there’s nothing like seeing a student’s eyes when they finally see what you see in them!”

Kiamichi Technology Centers has played an integral role in southeastern Oklahoma communities since 1968, serving ten full and three partial counties. KTC is one of 29 districts in the Oklahoma CareerTech system with more than 30 career programs. KTC also offers a wide variety of evening and weekend short-term courses as well as certifications in many diverse career fields. KTC serves nearly 23,000 individuals each year, including many area companies who receive training through the Business and Industry Services division that works with over 400 businesses annually.
