KTC-Talihina students honored at the State Capitol

Seven local students from the Kiamichi Technology Centers-Talihina campus were privileged with a trip to the Oklahoma State Capitol on February 22, 2017.The students were honored for their high achievement in the classroom that led them to being members of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS).

The National Technical Honor Society currently serves approximately 100,000 active members and nearly a million since its inception in 1984. Over $250,000 in scholarships is awarded annually to its members. NTHS honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. For over 30 years, NTHS has been the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education.  NTHS strives to bring well deserved recognition, scholarship opportunities, and career opportunities to students who excel in one of the 108 career and technical educational fields as their profession. Not only do NTHS students embody all the attributes and talent which is in demand today, these students also embrace a clear vision for tomorrow’s workforce and their role in it.

Senator Dr. Ervin Yen and Dr. Marcie Mack- ODCTE Director recognized the students in the Senate Chamber for their achievements. The students also engaged in a conversation with Senator Larry Boggs about his stance on keeping the Talihina Veterans Center open.
