Damien Bruce [pictured above], a Talihina High School student, is enrolled in the Biology II course in conjunction with his EAST program at KTC Talihina. Damien is shown participating in a lab over constructing DNA and protein. The importance of learning DNA structure and protein synthesis is to learn how organisms depend on DNA and protein to repair and maintain cells, as well as create enzymes, hormones and defense cells.
The Math and Science instructor is Michael Phillips. Mr. Phillips has been employed with the KTC Talihina campus since August of 2008. He received his Bachelors of Science from Northeastern State University in 2002 and an Associates of Science from Carl Albert State College in 2000. When asked, “Why he wanted to be an instructor at KTC Talihina,” he replied, “I enjoy teaching students from all the schools in the valley, not just one school.” In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his children Troy and Tory, and his wife Shannon, riding his dirt bike, fishing and hiking.
If a student is interested in attending KTC Talihina, they are given the option to take a Math or Science class, depending on what they need for their credits. We offer Biology II, Algebra II, and Geometry. They experience hands on activities, smaller class sizes, updated technology and one on one instruction.
If you would like more information about a student you know that would be interested in attending KTC Talihina to take a Math or Science class, contact us at 918-567-2264.
