Shelley Ebert and Misty Bible were recently nominated and
selected to attend the Leaders Building Leaders Army Leadership Symposium in
Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Shelley Ebert is the student services coordinator and
Misty Bible is the counselor at Kiamichi Technology Centers-Idabel Campus. Fort
Leavenworth is renowned for its expertise in developing world-class military
leaders and is considered one of the U.S. Army’s premier training
institutions. During the symposium,
attendees were able to explore U.S. Army best practices in leader and
professional development and how educators can apply them in support of
preparing today’s students to be college, career and citizenship ready. Attendees also learned about the Army’s many
education and career initiatives and available resources.
A cohort of 33 principals and counselors were selected from
across the United States to attend the event.
The event was a collaboration between the U.S. Army, the National
Association of Secondary School Principals, and the American School Counselor
Association. All travel arrangements and
accommodation costs were funded by the U.S. Army.
Ebert and Bible are grateful to have this unique experience,
and believe that the knowledge that they acquired will benefit their students
